Proto-Neo Poster Series

I selected contemporary films of the 2020s and designed them with 1950s poster sensibilities, inspired by the distinctive typography, analog painting techniques, and midcentury design principles of film posters from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Studying the masters of the 20th century, Saul Bass and Bill Gold, this project strives to commentate on contemporary cinema through use of the visual language of its historical roots, juxtaposing the modern trappings of a post-COVID world with archetypal conventions. What would Stagecoach look like with TMZ? How would The 39 Steps be different in a world with smartphones?
