The Sopranos — Season 5
I wanted to source most of my own reference photos for Year 5 of The Sopranos, playing on the 'Class of 2004' and how their arrivals shape the endgame of the show. Visually, I pulled a lot from The Test Dream and its surreal, vaguely academic imagery; partly an inside joke about Tony never having the makings of a varsity athlete, but also a representation of his anxieties around the weight of leadership and his duty as a patriarch towards both families.
I printed the names, then scanned them again for that authentic yearbook texture. For the teeth, I dipped them in soy sauce and color graded the page to look appropriately gross. Sometimes the process gets weird, but sometimes that's the point.
