Surprisingly the most difficult poster to design was my attempt at riffing on Saul Bass' style of midcentury posters for Pascal Plante's Red Rooms. I went through an initial phase of thumbnail sketches that resulted in designs that I felt were too representational and not nearly symbolic enough to match the stark, minimal posters of Paul Rand and Saul Bass. A cursory assumption was that this would make for the easiest poster to illustrate, but I was very, very wrong. This poster certainly had me utilize the designer side of my brain more than it did the illustrator side.
